Stage 4b. TVDE – Thermo-Vacuum Powder Degassing and Encapsulation System

AMT.TVDE

The Thermo-Vacuum Powder Degassing, Capsule Filling and Sealing System based on the patent protected technical solutions is intended for degassing of powder through removal of physically and chemically adsorbed moisture and gases, and either re-conditioning the used powder or filling HIP capsules under controlled temperature and vacuum conditions. The equipment provides heating and degassing of powder flowing through a manifold by dispersing its bulk into separate loose particles, collecting the degassed powder under vacuum in the transportation container, or vacuum filling of capsules, hermetic sealing of filled capsules, and processing of both homogeneous and functionally graded powder compositions in the HIP can. The process concept provides achieving specified filling density, effective degassing of difficult powder beds, objective optimization of degassing parameters, and reliable filling and sealing of powder-filled capsules prior to HIP with the controlled level of powder in them. The System can be supplied with a single manifold, or 2 or 3 manifolds.

The system is designed to support the degassing and re-conditioning the long stored or used powder or preparation of powder-filled capsules for HIP by combining reliable heating of dispersed powder particles in vacuum, degassing of emissions from the powder particle surface, controlled filling with vibrations and reliable hermetic sealing within a single process route. It is intended for operations where the quality of degassing and the stability of capsule filling directly affect the integrity of the subsequent HIP consolidation stage both in material quality and shape accuracy.

Technological Process Capabilities

Heating and vacuum degassing of powder particles.

Reconditioning of used or long stored powders.

Vacuum filling of degassed powder into capsules under vibrations and providing controlled level of powder in them.

Vacuum degassing, simultaneous filling of capsules or capsule elements with either homogeneous powders or powders with different particle size distributions, enabling functionally graded filling, HIP and properties in the final components, and hermetic sealing of capsules.

Functional Purpose

To ensure capsule vacuum filling with a specified fill density and powder level.

To ensure full degassing of powders while taking into account the physical-chemical characteristics of the powder material, the low thermal and electrical conductivity of powder beds, their poor gas permeability, and their high adsorption capacity.

To provide the basis for objective optimization of the key degassing parameters.

To ensure reliable hermetic sealing of filled capsules.

To implement these operations on the basis of modern, high-efficiency equipment with low material and energy consumption.
